Forge your own path. Live the adventure.

Travis’s life has been a relentless pursuit of adventure. From childhood, he explored the rugged interior of British Columbia on dirt bikes, skis, and snowmobiles, while hunting and fishing deep in the wilderness. The outdoors was always home. This early immersion in nature ignited a passion that would shape a lifetime of exploration.

Even in high school, Travis answered the call of duty by joining a volunteer fire department. He spent three summers battling wildfires across BC, Alberta, and Washington state, often from the air, cementing his taste for extreme environments. Never one to shy away from adrenaline, he also took leaps of faith skydiving and bungee jumping, pushed the limits of speed, and tested the resilience of both himself and his machines racing (and crashing) dirt bikes and cars.

His thirst for adventure eventually led him north to Fort St. John (BC), where he dove headfirst into the demanding world of the oilfields. Over the decade spent driving massive rigs and cranes in Canada’s harshest environments, his passion for overland travel grew with every mile. Any free time was spent exploring the backcountry in 4x4s, camping, and embarking on epic road trips.

In 2014, the call of the open road took Travis to Australia, where he transformed a van into a home on wheels with the help of a local tool collective. A year and a half spent traversing the East Coast, combined with working in the remote outback driving big rigs for coal exploration, deepened his appreciation for self-reliance and nomadic living. His travels continued with a hitchhiking journey through New Zealand, followed by a stint in Queenstown honing his carpentry skills while working on the airport expansion.

Upon returning to Canada, Travis applied his diverse skill set to the family business, mastering everything from heavy equipment operation to welding and fabrication. Then, in 2017, The Wild Rumpus (an adult adventure camp) introduced him to a kindred spirit—and future wife. They married in 2019, celebrating by putting 2,000 km on a rental car while honeymooning in Portugal, followed shortly by another 1,000 miles circumnavigating the Big Island of Hawaii. Needless to say, Travis likes driving.

Though the pandemic temporarily paused their grand plans, it couldn’t dampen their adventurous spirit. In 2021, their greatest journey began with the arrival of their son—a born explorer. Before his third birthday, he crisscrossed Canada, drove the length of the Baja Peninsula twice, and attended Overland Expo West 2023.

When not embarking on epic overland expeditions, Travis, his wife, their son, and their loyal dog, Tuk, can be found exploring the stunning beaches and trails of Vancouver Island. Now, Travis is eager to share his DIY expedition truck and inspire others to embrace the open road, chase adventure, and create their own unforgettable journeys.
